Beef at Huish FarmWith the changes in the subsidy making the beef enterprise financially a non-viable operation, we have restructured the enterprise, reducing the cattle numbers from 760 to a total of approx 250 head on farm. This is made up of 120 suckler cows, and all their offspring. We finish everything on the farm, as steers or heifers. A bull beef unit which use to finish 200+ bulls a year has been mothballed until such time as the price increases making it a viable enterprise.
